Day 734: Back Off, Turkey

See what I'm talking about -- would you trust that turkey? I didn't think so. His name is Timmy, by the way. What kind of turkey is named Timmy?! Momma!

Days 733-734: Friends

Thanks for coming up to visit me at the house, Frankie. You too, Baby Finn. It was fun throwing rocks in the stream with you guys, and also kicking the ball, and building block towers. I didn't even mind when we were sharing a room and you yelled a bunch! I slept right through that. After you left today, Mom and Dad and I went to a farm where animals go to retire. We saw turkeys, and goats, and rabbits, and chickens, and cows, and sheep, and dogs, and a kitty. I liked them all except maybe the turkey. That guy was a little scary.

Day 732: Trees!

Whoa, did you guys know that trees aren't just good for shade and for providing places for birds to sit when they get tired of flying around? They can be climbed! This is very exciting news that I learned just today from Mom. I suspect she might soon regret sharing this information.

Days 730-731: Photos of Me!

I forgot to share these the other day -- they're more photos Aunt Jenny took when she was visiting last weekend. That's a tennis ball under my shirt there in the second shot, if you wondering. Why is it there? Good question. I have no idea! But it seemed funny at the time.

Day 729: I Love Flowers!

I love flowers. They're pretty. And they smell good. And sometimes my Mom even lets me pick them -- but only sometimes, and not when those flowers are in our garden. We went to the Botanical Garden today with some friends, and it was nice. It's like a park, only a little better kept, and people put little signs by all the plants, and there are no crazy people talking to statues. I guess there's a festival coming up next week for the cherry blossoms, which are pretty flowers on the cherry trees. Now, I'm no expert in cherry blossoms, or festivals, but judging by what I saw -- and this picture -- I think maybe it's a little late for a festival in their honor. Unless the point of the festival is to attract volunteers who can help clean up all the petals before they rot. In that case, it's a brilliant idea. Anyway: yay, flowers!

Days 725-728: Thanks, Babysitters!

Thanks Aunt Jenny and Uncle Conrad for coming to visit and taking care of me this weekend! I had the best time. We went to the zoo, and the aquarium, and also to the playground, and the park, and the yard. We were busy!

Here is an incomplete list of animals I saw (I can't remember them all right now): SHEEP! COW! GOATS! BABOONS! RED PANDA! KANGAROOS! SHARK! TURTLE! SEA LIONS! And lots of FISH!

I barely even noticed Mom and Dad were gone. Come back and visit me again soon, guys.

Day 724: Did You Hear Something?

I don't miss much these days. I see and hear everything. My favorite question, right now, is "What that, Mama?" My second favorite question is, "What that, Daddy?" Outside, especially in the city, it can be hard to keep track of all the noises, and to identify their sources. Here, I think, I am tuning in to the tweets of a bird. I might be asking, "Is that woodpecker?" (My favorite bird, at least right now.) And because this is Brooklyn, and not upstate, the answer is probably "no."

Day 723: I Miss You

It's hard to believe it's been a year since you left us. You would be so proud of the little person I have become -- even, or maybe especially, when I'm mischievous and naughty. I'm sorry we had so little time together but I'm sure glad you got to know me, even for a year. I won't forget you.

Days 721-722: Happy Tuesday!

It sure is nice here in Brooklyn this week. Too nice to be inside. The other day Mom took me to a new playground and I found this cool HORSE! I tried to go for a ride but he was kinda tired, I guess, and just stood there. Silly HORSE!

Days 718-720: That Weekend Went Fast

Wow, that weekend went fast. I guess that's what happens when you drive to Harrisburg, which is a place in Pennsylvania where all the dogs hang out. We went to see Jack Puppy, and also Granddad, who drove up to meet us. While Dad was hanging out with dogs, Mom and I hung out with Granddad, and we rode this cool train around an island. That's what we're doing here, and Granddad is making train noises. Which looks funny in a picture! I spent today walking around Brooklyn with Dad, and also climbing things. It was hot! Which was weird. Because it's been cold!

Not pictured: the actual train. It was small and cute. But maybe not fast enough. Anyway, the weekend was nice, and I was pretty tired by the end of it. Time for night night!

Day 717: Spring

I've always loved water -- drinking it, bathing in it, running madly into it even if it's the ocean or a large, cold lake, pouring it on the floor, using it to wipe things up, and now in spring, using it to water flowers. I have a little watering can I use but sometimes Momma lets me help with the hose. But I'm still not allowed to hold it myself. Yet. YET!

Day 716: Horse!

My love of puppies is pretty well documented. What is less well known is that I also love horses! Though mostly I just called them HORSE!, even when there's more than one. This guy lives up near our house in the mountains. We drive by all the time but this time we stopped, and he was nice but maybe a little miffed that we didn't bring him a NACK! Next time, I'll bring some apples, little guy.

Technically, I'm told this is probably a pony, but that's just confusing. He even had a friend, and I was able to pat the noses of both of them. Thanks, HORSE!

Day 715: Pancakes!

Sunday we went for lunch at this awesome restaurant Sweet Sues. They have the best breakfasts -- most of which are very sweet! If I appear concerned in this photo it's only because I'm trying to wrap my head around how best to attack that delicious, blueberry-flavored monster.

Days 712-714: I Don't Get the Joke

Dad wanted me to pose in front of this sign. I can't read, so I'm not totally sure what he was getting at. Then I got distracted by a little baby crawling around, and also by ice cream, so I forgot about it.

Then Mom came and we posed in front of this sign at the same place. I guess they like yellow.

Day 711: Turn It up!

So I grabbed this string thing that you guys are always putting in your ears and I'm not hearing anything. What am I doing wrong here? Put some "Freeze Song" on here and I'll commence the Riverdancing!

Days 707-710: The Dog Whisperer

If you like dogs -- and we all know I do! -- you should totally go to Ft Greene park in the mornings. Before 9am, dogs are allowed to run around free and it's just jam-packed with puppies. I like to go and chase them around. Sometimes, they even let me pet them. Like this guy, Wilbur. He was a good sport -- but very hard to catch!

Days 704-706: Hugs! And Animals!

It should be obvious by now that I like puppies and kitties. But the truth is that I love all animals! I wish I could hug bears and tigers the way I hug Buddy and Jack Puppy and Mao. Just in case, I've been practicing with realistic facsimiles, like these guys.
