Days 454-458: Summer is Busy

Wow is summer busy. I blink and weeks go by! We just got back from another long weekend away. This time I had a few days with Grandmom and Granddad while Mom and Dad went away somewhere. I'm not sure where, exactly. At first I thought maybe they'd never come back. Then a few minutes later I forgot about them. That's because I had so much fun my grandparents. They took very good care of me, and fed me lots of peaches. Thanks, guys!

I was of course happy when the parents came to pick me up. Especially Mom. I like it when she sings me songs and feeds me Cheerios.

Day 453: Happy Birthday, Mom!

Happy Birthday to my Mom! I hate to pick favorites but probably if I was being honest you are my favoritest person. Thanks for hanging out with me so much since I got here, and mostly not getting mad even when I break things, or cry when you won't give me more nana. I don't know how many years are you, but I know it's at least as many as these awesome balloons G'ma and Papa sent. You don't mind if I pop them, do you? Thanks!

Happy Birthday! I love you!

Day 452: Oh, Brother

It's a scorcher here in Brooklyn. You know it's hot when people other than my Dad are complaining about the heat and right now, EVERYONE in this city is talking about the fact that when you go outside it feels like the exhaust from a dryer filled with wet socks somebody fished out of a swamp. I guess down south they just call this "a normal summer day" but up here we don't much like it. You can take this weather back to Georgia, thank you.
Now, who's ready for a dip in the pool?

Day 451: A Day at the Pool

Wow, it's hot here, and has been for days. Hard to do much other that sit by the air conditioner -- or in the pool. Good thing I have my own private pool out back. Sometimes I have friends over to swim. This here's Jack. He's the kid from the car that you saw a few weeks back.

Days 446-450: Time Flies

It's hard to fit blogging in with all my activities, especially meals, scraping my knees, and making a mess. I guess another weekend came and went. They come so fast, and go too quickly. But I guess every day is kind of a weekend when you don't have school or a job.

I bet you were thinking that was Edvard Munch's "The Scream" up there. Nope, that's me. In what I call the "ready position." I like to be prepared in advance for the arrival of food, so that I don't waste valuable time opening my mouth once the tasty morsels are in place. This way, I can just chomp down, chew, and start preparing for the next one. I learned this strategy from those plants that eat flies.

Day 445: Other things I love

Cousins!

And goats!

Girls I'm not so sure about -- yet. Don't get me wrong, I like the ladies, and this one was cute. But she was a little forward. The kids at the playground said that's what happens when you hang out with older women. Lesson learned.

Day 445: Grandparents

Grandparents are the best, aren't they? I'm lucky to have so many. And I'm a little late with this one but I wanted to say thanks to Granddad and Grandmom for having us out last week. I had fun! Dad says you're going to babysit for me soon, and I'm excited about that. I promise to behave myself and only whine if you run out of bananas and blueberries and grapes. In a pinch, I'll accept pears and strawberries too. If you're worried about entertaining me, don't! I like just about anything outdoors, especially the swings. And water. And sand. And dogs. Also bears. Even goats and pigs. Maybe you can get some of those and put them in the yard until I get there.

Days 442-445: Still Sweeping

Man, these people are slave drivers. I've been so busy sweeping the yard that I haven't had time to do much of anything, let alone update my blog. But they finally gave me a break, so here I am. Phew!

Days 440-441: Weekend Chores

Nice weekend here in the Big Apple. Dad's been working a lot on some book thing so yesterday I ran some errands with Mom and Aunt Claire in the city (we got a sweet new stroller!) and today Mom and I went to the beach. The beach is pretty great -- it's like my water table, only a lot bigger. When we got back Dad came home and we all hung out and cleaned up the back yard. While he changed the slug traps, I was on sweeping detail. And look how clean it is!

Day 439: Tiny Cars

I promise to post more vacation photos soon, once I find a little time in my busy summer schedule, but in the meantime here's a photo of me on a tiny car from yesterday's play group. It was too cute to hold on to!

Day 438: Water!

The more I play in water, the more I love it. One day on our little vacation out in Maryland and West Virginia, we went to a lake with the whole family, including grandparents and uncles and aunts and cousins. While I was there I made some mud cakes, flung some sand around, splashed and swam in the water, and got manhandled by this older woman. She was, like, 2 - and very aggressive. I think I have some photos around to prove it. Once I find them, I'll share!

Days 432-438: Stay Tuned

Apologies again for the delay. I've been busy. I will post some photos and an update later today but in the meantime enjoy this picture of me eating cake -- red cake!

I was about to say Happy Monday but it's actually Thursday, which is almost the weekend. Crazy! Summer gets me so turned around.

Day 431: More Friends

This here's Jack. He likes to ride shotgun, only this car is sorta confusing because the steering wheel is in the middle and it's never clear who should be driving and who should be manning the stereo and GPS. Our compromise was to each take half of the wheel, which works great as long as you're going straight. Turns get a little complicated.

Day 431: Friends

Walking around the neighborhood -- or getting pushed around, even -- you meet lots of nice friends. Like this funny looking guy right here. He's not the most beautiful baby I've ever seen, and he snorts a lot, but I like him anyway.

Days 428-431: Summer

People kept talking about how summer was all about relaxing, and vacation, but it sure seems like summer is the busiest time of all. It seems like someone in the house is always going someplace, including me. First Mom was gone, then Dad was gone, and now we're all back home but we're all leaving today to see Granddad and Grandmom in Maryland. Also aunts and uncles and cousins. And dogs! And fireworks! (Whatever those are.) It's been pretty nice here in Brooklyn too. Lots of getting dirty in the sand, sweaty in the park, and wet in the fountains. The trifecta of summer fun! If only there was a way to tie food into that.
